Rings Too Big?

How to Downsize Any Ring

Stacking jewelry is the latest trend: multiple necklaces, piles of bracelets and, of course, a ring or two on every finger! The first piece of jewelry that I ever made was a ring. The nice thing about making your own jewelry is that you can make it fit just right. But for some reason that ring doesn’t fit me anymore.  Besides, I would like to wear it on a different finger now.

Fortunately, there is a simple solution to the problem of rings that are too big! I found this handy video by Saja Fawzi demonstrating how to downsize a ring with a glue gun. I tried it, and it works! You just have to know how much glue to add. If the glue bulges out the sides, you can trim the glue with a pair of scissors.

Thankfully, the hardened glue will usually pop right off of a shiny surface when you need to remove it. I would recommend putting a drop of glue in an inconspicuous place just to be sure. Take care not to get glue on the setting.

Now you can easily and inexpensively change the size of your rings. Then you can return them to their original size.
