Video Cassette Jewelry In the new Exhibition
“Offbeat Bijou” jewelry at Florida CraftArt
It’s a great time to see cutting edge art jewelry in St. Petersburg, FL. The museum of Fine Art is showing the surreal work of Jean Schlumberger, The James Museum has a “Jewelry Box” displaying the jewelry of Native American craftsmen, AND Florida CraftArt opens a brand new exhibition this Friday. “Offbeat Bijou” features jewelry artists from across the country who use nontraditional techniques and materials.
I am pleased to have been selected to show several of my designs made from Video Cassette parts. Other artists in the exhibit utilize Bluetooth technology, 3-D printing and LEGO’s in their work. Related events at Florida CraftArt will include a jewelry making demo by Julie Dye on February 13, Docent tours every Wednesday, and the Closing Reception on March 2.
I will be at the Opening Reception Friday, January 25 from 5:30-7:30. The show continues through March 2. Florida CraftArt is located at 501 Central Avenue, St. Petersburg, FL 33701. Phone: 727-821-7391. Click this link to see more information and a sneak preview video, including the necklace and earrings that I made.
