No Objections: Explorations in Mixed Media

  • St. Pete ArtWorks St. Pete ArtWorks, 2604 Central Avenue St. Petersburg United States (map)

Largo artist, Micki Barrow’s creative pursuits focus on objects and the sentimental nostalgic emotions that they can hold. Color and layered texture create emotional environments for everyday objects. Rather than painting a person, her pieces hold the personality of the individual who owns or uses the object. Micki says, “My art brings forth the feelings that these objects hold for me…like a visual memory.”

Her process is very experimental. She works in series and begins with an under painting, then includes bits of paper, charcoal, drawings, or acrylic image transfers of her original photographs. Layers of color and texture using acrylic paint and other mediums create a “room” for the objects to exist in.

Micki’s art will be on view during the month of February. Learn more from her and other gallery artists at the reception held during Art Walk. Jazz ensemble, NYC3 will provide the music.
