At first glance the art of Wasíl is a synthesis of painting, installation, and up-cycled sculpture. He uses repurposed building materials, as well as fine art materials. A second look goes much deeper, as he explores the mystery of what it is to be alive, and fosters discovery deep within. “I see the work as a type of power object, containing energy, as a talisman of sorts. I believe art has the ability to transform and be fun. Art is something I am, not something I do”.
Wasíl creates by bringing the vibrational ethers forth into the material realm. His hope is that viewers encounter a rendezvous within themselves, that their chakras engage, and that their wild parts are tantalized.
Wasíl’s art may be experienced throughout the month of January, and at the reception held at St. Pete ArtWorks during St. Pete’s Second Saturday Art Walk. Barney Waterbury of Urban Gypsies fame will also share his stories and tribal, disco, gypsy bluegrass music that night.
